AN ART THAT NOBODY KNEW

We designed the “Art that no one knew” in order to create an other animation that would originate from the Greek culture.

Our first concern was to exceed the prospect that dominates the naturalistic cinema and which got also into animation. Thus we selected figures from Byzantine, post byzantine period that presented intensely the absence of third dimension.

The movement of the images in to the cinematographic frame, allows the spectator to view the details and to appreciate the aesthetic of each character individual.

Our technique approaches the art of Theatre of Shades, without being inspired from this. The movement of the images does not correspond necessarily to the narration of Balkan fairy tale. It follows the rhythm of the music that is selected so it suits with atmosphere of narration.

The film was converted to telecine by Tonanonymon.
